Aitutaki to Auckland

Island hop around some bucket-list and off-the-beaten path hidden gems, starting in Papeete, Tahiti, French Polynesia. Head to nearby Arue and pay a visit to the home of James Norman Hall—author of Mutiny on the Bounty.
Raiatea means “faraway heaven” in the local language, but with Azamara, we bring you up close to the beauty of this island believed to be the original birthplace of Polynesia. Its tranquil lagoon is perfect for a little self-reflection and Marae Taputapuatea, on the southeast coast, is one of the most sacred and best-preserved maraes (temples) in French Polynesia.
Next, it’s on to an overnight in beautiful Bora Bora where warm waters, lagoons, and bright white sands circle two rainforest-covered, majestic interior peaks. Be sure to try poisson cru—this healthy, delicious dish of tuna marinated in lime and coconut is a must-try local favourite. After a day spent sailing, call on Aitutaki in the Cook Islands. Comprised of 15 palm-studded motus (islets) adjacent to the main island, and each motu is situated in what has often been referred to as “the world’s most beautiful lagoon”.
Take the next four days at sea as we cross the International Date Line to explore all your boutique hotel at sea has to offer, from delicious specialty dining, to luxurious spa treatments, to Broadway-calibre entertainment. Our final two stops are on The Land of the Long White Cloud—New Zealand. In Bay of Islands, history buffs will want to visit Waitangi, the site of New Zealand’s first permanent British settlement and learn more about the birthplace of the Treaty of Waitangi. Your journey concludes in Auckland. Head to the top of the Sky Tower (the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere), take a guided tour of the coastal rainforest, or go on a harbor cruise.
