Walter Peak Gourmet BBQ Dining
Cruise aboard the historic TSS Earnslaw across to Walter Peak High Country Farm. Be sure to explore the TSS Earnslaw, as it is so much more than the journey to your destination. After boarding sit down to a local beer, mulled cider or locally produced wine while you listen to the beautiful music coming from the onboard grand piano. Watch Queenstown slip into the distance before heading downstairs to its mighty coal engine room where you can witness staff shovelling coal to get you to your destination. Once at the lakeside Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant savour the delicious aromas as our chef has the best of local produce sizzling away on the grill. Dine lakeside and soak up the incredible views whilst enjoying the mouth-watering buffet consisting of seasonal salads, vegetables and a variety of succulent meats cooked on the wood-fired BBQ, plus cheeses, breads and desserts. Overlooking Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown's alpine scenery, the Colonel’s Homestead at Walter Peak High Country Farm is the perfect place to spend a few hours. Its colonial architecture and sweeping grounds evoke the elegance of a bygone era. Wanaka 4x4 Explorer
Wanaka's boat and 4x4 tour brings you the best of both worlds with views from the lake and land looking over remote islands and National Parks. From start to finish we are off the beaten path, truly remote, truly stunning. Your trip starts at the marina by boating up lake Wanaka towards the head of Stevenson’s arm with tremendous views of glacier carved mountains, a constantly changing vista of steep walls and alpine peaks. We cruise past Stevenson’s Island to our 4x4 starting point at the foot of Mt Burke. Boarding our 4×4 vehicle we climb above the lake, your view expands until all of Lake Wanaka lays before you in a stunning panorama of crystal clear blue water and the alpine peaks of Mount Aspiring National Park. Take some time to enjoy the solitude and enjoy the best view in Wanaka while you enjoy your gourmet picnic. Your guide will give you an insight into the history of the farm station and the geology of the Alps.
