The Best of Tuscany Tour: Montepulciano and Pienza with Lunch & Wine Pairing
Leave Rome for a full day trip exploring the stunning towns in the Val d’Orcia region of Tuscany. On a private air-conditioned bus, you’ll stop off in hilltop villages, mystical abbeys and Tuscan farms where you'll experience an authentic lunch, wines and shopping for local goods with an expert English-speaking guide. The hustle and bustle of Rome will disappear as you glide over gently rolling hills to discover the towns of Montepulciano, Montalcino and Pienza. We have a special route that takes you to the hilltop region where villages have no cars, wine is still stored in underground caves and even the belltowers are dramatic. You’ll discover the history of the mysterious Etruscans who ruled before the Romans and soak up the views from the Montepulciano town walls over the hills. You’ll be eager to sit down to a three-course Tuscan feast and taste the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino wine. The food and wine are all produced locally, so we guarantee you’ll taste nothing fresher. While all the regions in Italy compete over food, Tuscany is a byword for local produce and its wine is the best in the world. Food and wine is not all it is known for. Once you set foot in Pienza, you’ll be visiting one of the first towns in the world to receive a beauty makeover. Another Italian World Heritage Site, it was rebuilt by Pope Pius II in the Renaissance to showcase the idea of urban perfection. Of course, you’ll also discover food here as it is famous for its Pecorino cheese. By the time you return to Rome, you’ll have experienced the sights and tastes of a unique historical region that many dream of when they first consider a visit to Italy.

Montserrat Monastery Visit and Lunch at Farmhouse
The experience starts in the upper part of Passeig de Gràcia, before journeying to experience the natural splendor of Montserrat, Catalonia’s most emblematic mountain, topped by a Benedictine Monastery. Montserrat is an ideal trip to spend a fun day in nature, just a few kilometers away from Barcelona. Board the Aeri Cable Car to observe the area’s fascinating flora and fauna. On the way to the Monastery, admire the Massif of Montserrat, a spectacular multi-peaked rocky range packed with unique needle-shaped formations. Upon arrival, visit the Monastery, which was founded in the 10th century and still functions to this day, with over 70 monks. It is also well-known for hosting the figure of La Moreneta, who is the patron saint of Catalonia. Your guide will bring history alive by explaining the history and ventures of this Monastery dating nearly a thousand years. A bus will take you to Farmhouse where you will have lunch from farm to table based on a delicious 3-course menu; first-course salad, second-course combination of barbecue (vegetarian and halal option) and dessert with stunning views. In August the restaurant will not be the usual, but you will be able to appreciate the views of Montserrat. Once this massif is observed from a distance, it is easier to understand the importance of this mountain when it comes to influencing the traditions and culture of the regions that surround it. The plans and terraces of the Farmhouse have been cultivated for hundreds of years. At present there are 2,700 trees of the varieties of the area, which are the Palomar and the Vera. After this full day of adventures you will return to the centre of Barcelona by private transport.
