Scenic Switzerland by Train Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive In Zurich, Switzerland
Check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Zurich with the help of the CosmosGO app. Tonight, meet your Tour Director and travel companions.

Day 2: Zurich-Lucerne
Board the train for your journey from Zurich to Lucerne. Lucerne is one of Switzerland's most idyllic medieval cities, surrounded by a beautiful lake and nestled amidst snow-capped Alps. The rest of the day is at leisure to discover the delights of this charming city such as the famous wooden bridge or the picturesque town centre. Alternatively, sign up for an optional excursion. Today's Distance: 37 mi/ 60 km

Day 3: Lucerne-Interlaken-Goldenpass Mob Panoramic Train To Montreux-Lausanne
Depart Lucerne on the Lucerne-Interlaken Express. Cross Brunig Pass en route to Interlaken and spend some time strolling through the quaint streets. From Interlaken, take the BLS RegioExpress train to Zweisimmen. Continue on the GoldenPass panoramic train for your unforgettable journey to Montreux, then continue to Lausanne. Today's Distance: 155 mi/ 250 km

Day 4: Lausanne-Montreux-Tasch-Zermatt Area
Depart for the delightful Swiss mountain region of Zermatt. En route, stop to visit the town of Montreux, situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, surrounded by vineyards against the breathtaking backdrop of snow-covered Alps. Enjoy some free time or maybe join an optional guided excursion to Chillon Castle before continuing by train to Zermatt. Today's Distance: 109 mi/ 175 km

Day 5: Zermatt. Gornergrat Excursion
An included excursion takes you to the famous Gornergrat, travelling on board Europe's highest rack railway. The views of the Matterhorn from its summit are nothing short of spectacular. The rest of the day is at leisure in Zermatt-with a variety of interesting shops, cafes, bars, and picturesque streets to explore.

Day 6: Zermatt Area-Glacier Express-St. Moritz
The train journey today aboard the spectacular Glacier Express is without a doubt one of the main highlights of the tour. Enjoy unforgettable views as you make your way through the unspoiled natural beauty of the Alps on the direct route to the world-famous mountain resort of St. Moritz. This picture-perfect town is more than just a holiday resort. It was also the birthplace of Alpine winter tourism (in 1864) and has twice hosted the Winter Olympics. Stretch your legs this evening, and admire the beautiful chalets decorated with gorgeous geraniums. Today's Distance: 174 mi/ 280 km

Day 7: St. Moritz. Bernina Express Excursion To Tirano, Italy
Take the Bernina Express train (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) to Tirano and back for one of Europe's most spectacular and breathtaking train rides. Travel across the lofty Bernina Pass via the Swiss Poschiavo area to Tirano in the Italian Valtellina, witnessing an array of beautiful mountain streams, glaciers, and alpine scenery along the way. Day 8: St. Moritz-Zurich
Leave St. Moritz for the journey back to Zurich. Enjoy some time at leisure and take a stroll around the city centre. Perhaps indulge in some chocolate tasting or follow the course of the river Limmat until it reaches the banks of Lake Zurich. Today's Distance: 137 mi/ 220 km

Amsterdam Canal Cruise
Amsterdam is best viewed from the water. On this 75-minute canal cruise you’ll experience the best of our historical city. It offers you the best views of the 17th-century buildings lining the city canals, and will also show you the 21st-century city that Amsterdam has become. You’ll come across new architecture and bridges, showing a city that is rooted in history but continues to develop and change. You’ll see the city the way it really is – from the Golden Bend to Overhoeks, the city’s newest quarter, and from the Music Building in the harbor to the impressive (replica of a ) VOC ship outside of the Maritime museum.

Volendam, Marken and Windmills Tour
Escape to the country where you will visit quaint fishing villages and witness traditional craftsmen at work. and enjoy the tranquillity of the area and immerse yourself in the old way of life as you admire the colourful Dutch windmills. The first stop is Zaanse Schans, a traditional village renowned for its many windmills dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. With over ten windmills lining the banks of the Zaan River, explore this incredible open-air museum or with your free time, why not stop to visit some of the windmills. Zaanse Schans is truly one of the best places to see windmills in Holland! The next stop is the picturesque fishing village of Volendam. Visit the Cheese Factory to learn more about how the Dutch make cheese as well as delight your taste buds as you try their incredible cheese. What’s more, step back in time to the 19th century with a visit to Woltjes Backerij, an authentic stroopwafel bakery. See how people lived as well as find out how these Dutch delicacies are made! Afterwards, enjoy some free time to discover Volendam at your own leisure. Continue as you head towards the ancient town of Edam, that dates back to the 12th century. World-famous for its iconic red cheese balls, this picturesque village has been exporting its cheese to every corner of the world for centuries. Take a stroll along the cobbled streets and be captivated by its beautiful buildings, picturesque squares and peaceful canals. Enjoy a 30-minute scenic boat tour across the Ijsselmeer to Marken. Upon arrival, take a stroll amongst the beautiful wooden-clad houses. Complete the tour with a visit to a traditional Marker house and watch how traditional clogs are made; according to a 100-year-old tradition with steam-powered tools. Whilst here, why not try on a pair and see how surprisingly comfortable they are!
