Cape Sounion - Half-Day Tour
At only 60 kilometres from the south of Athens, this picturesque little town gives you a true taste of Aegean beauty. Depart the Greek capital in the early afternoon and enjoy the panoramic view along the way. At this hour, the coastal road trip offers a wondrous view of the sea, as colours start dimming and the wind starts chilling after the midday heat is gone. Along the way, contemplate the little fishing towns that dot the coast whizzing by your window. Reach Sounion and enjoy a deep intake of fresh salty air. The view of the town and the calm, provincial background noises will have the psychic effect of that breath of fresh air, having left civilization behind you. Once there, visit the regal Temple of Poseidon. This spectacular construction hangs on the edge of a cliff, from where the ancient Greek god of the seas could oversee his magnificent azure realm: the Aegean. The sunset from this vantage point is truly a sight to never forget. Spend some leisurely time in the village before returning to Athens. In Sounion, myth and magic blend together in the quaint environment of a fishing town. Relax and feel yourself soar through the waters of history.
